Nov 11, 2003

Caelan and I just got back a couple of days ago from our trip to California. My mom (Grandma Sorensen) was doing her third Chemotherapy treatment and she wasn't doing so great. Her sister was going down, but not until the end of the treatment, so I took Little Goose and we headed to CA to help out. After much convincing, Dad (Sean) finally allowed us to drive instead of fly, saving us at least one hundred dollars. We made the trip in decent time -Caelan was wonderful both there and back. She got fussy only for about 20 minutes either way, which is an amazing blessing. The family was super surprised and excited to see us. Little babies can be the best kind of medicine, you know. Anyway, we spent the next five days enjoying time with the family. While we were there Caelan decided to roll over for the first time and also sit up (for a good minute or so before she toppled over). Dad was of course very sad to miss both of those. The trip was great, and thankfully we hit only 15 minutes of sketchy weather (some snow in Utah on the day we left). I am getting anxious for the snow to come again, so that we can make a Snowman with Little Goose (like she would even know what we were doing...). Caelan seems to be getting more and more personality every day. She is very smiley and happy most of the time, but she does like to be held quite a bit these days. When we decide not to hold her, then sometimes we get a little screaming fit from her -she'll learn. She is in the put-everything-you-can-in-your-mouth stage. If she can grab it, she will try to shove it in her mouth. She loves any kind of food that we decide to let her try, especially fruits and ice cream (I know, we are really bad). I am getting so excited for the holidays. They all of a sudden seem more alive now that we have a little daughter. We dressed up for Halloween as Fred, Wilma and Pebbles Flinstone. I made the costumes the day before. I even put a little q-tip in her hair for a bone. She looked pretty adorable. She is getting more and more fun each day, and we just love it!!!!
