April 4, 2006

The Disneyland trip was a great success. Caelan had all the fun, although at the beginning of the day she was definitely showing quite a bit of attitude. I think it was because she went to bed late and then woke up early and wasn't able to take a nap until much later that afternoon. Maybe it was all the excitement getting to her as well. She calmed down after a little while. The first ride we went on was the Gadget Roller Coaster in Toon Town. It is a little roller coaster, but still goes relatively quick. I thought she might get nervous and start crying, but she sat next to Daddy, and enjoyed most every minute. Daddy told her to raise her hand up in the air, and she rode half of the ride like that. We were glad that she didn't freak out on the first ride of the day, and therefore be afraid of every other ride. The only ride that made her a little nervous was Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs. She told Daddy that she wanted to get off after the second turn or so, but she was fine. She loved Dumbo and the horsey Carousel. We went on Small World, Buzz Lightyear, Teacups, Pinocchio, Roger Rabbit, we saw a the so" Anniversary fireworks show, "It's Tough to Be a Bug" show at California Adventure, and part of the parade. We actually went on several other rides, but Caelan fell asleep at around 8:30 PM and slept until we were walking back to our car at 12:15 PM. She really needed the rest, plus then all the grown-ups could go on the big rides while the kids were sleeping. It worked out very well. Caelan saw lots of characters also. She saw Minnie Mouse, Tigger, Goofy, Pluto, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and some others that I am sure I am forgetting. She had just as much fun as we hoped she would have. Then she was pretty exhausted the next day. She had fun playing with the family (she especially had all the fun playing with Preston -they had a couple of spats, but they played almost the whole time we were there). She got to see Aunt Charity who just got home from her mission, and by Sunday, she was taking Charity all over the place just like she would for every one else. Charity was pretty pleased that she remembered her so easily. The trip was fun. Now we are getting ready to meet Grandpa and Grandma Dick as well as Great Grandpa and Grandma Anderson at the Grand Canyon this next weekend. Yeah for living so close to family!!
