A new year! This is the third year in which Caelan has been alive (she is really getting up there). She had a fun Christmas in California with the Sorensen side of the bunch. Actually we visited Grandma and Grandpa Dick in Arizona for a couple days the weekend before (which they just loved). She got really comfortable with Sandy (the dog at the Dick's) and also Gus (the baby kitten at the Sorensen's). In fact, she realized that the kitty was actually smaller than she was, so she took several opportunities to pick him up and throw him across the room (not too damaging considering she is only a couple feet off the ground). We tried to teach her about being "nice," but I think she figured that is exactly what she was being. Whenever she heard the cat "meow" regardless of where he was, she would automatically yell out "meow." It was like a learned reaction. She enjoyed all of the Christmas festivities...especially all the sugary treats. I think she was on a two-week sugar high. She is at such a good age for Christmas: she still has no clue about getting presents and such, but she does get excited about certain toys and she knows how to unwrap a gift (so it was fun to watch her on Christmas morning). She really got attached to the new Disney movie, "Mickey's Twice Upon A Christmas." A couple of morning before we left I took her out to the living room and she immediately started saying "moo -ie, moo -ie." I wasn't sure what she was saying, but she was pointing in the direction of the TV, so I asked her if she wanted to watch a movie,in which she nodded her approval. Then I asked her which one, and she replied with "Mou" (meaning the Mouse movie). That is the only movie that she will literally sit down in a chair and watch the entire thing start to finish. We got a portable DVD player for Christmas (bought with sold text book money at the end of the semester) and we took several opportunities to let Caelan watch "The Mouse Movie" while we were driving, which made everyone's trip a little more enjoyable. While we were in CA we also took a day and went to the Wild Animal Park. Caelan thoroughly enjoyed that adventure as well. She is a little animal lover, I tell you what .... She definitely gets that from her dad. Anyway, the holidays were great, and now we are back at home (so quiet again) and getting back into the swing of things here. The next few months will be filled with preparations for her new little brother to come (the time is just flying by -he will be here before we know it). That will be another new adventure for her.
