Caelan got to stay home with Daddy for a few days while Mommy and Dude were in Arizona. Aunt Lani came to stay and help out also. She went to a babysitters house for two days in a row (which was kind of like a fun play date for her). She got to go to Jill's, a friend of ours with a little two year girl of her own. The next day Heidi Finegan came to watch her (and she just loves Heidi, so that was a treat). The bad part about the whole experience was that she was getting over a pretty serious stomach flu. The day before I left (Friday morning) she woke up with a bad tummy ache. She threw up three times that morning. Then all the rest of the day she was dealing with diarrhea and lots more tummy pain. It was even more of a bummer because all of my family came to stay with us that night (I mean the whole clan: Grandpa and Grandma Sorensen and 8 of the kids). She was pretty sick the next day (going potty every few hours), and by Sunday she was finally starting to feel better. She told Sean that day, "me buns hurt," and who can blame her after a couple of days like that. Anyway, I think it licked her potty training troubles. She hasn't had one accident since I have been home, except that one afternoon she went peepee while she was taking her nap (which is still understandable and fine by me). She hasn't even gone potty in her Pull-Up while she is sleeping at night. I couldn't be happier about the whole situation (too bad it took a bad case of the tummy flu to get us here). Anyway, she is a little potty-in-the-toilet-going-girl. She is absolutely loving nursery these days. I visit teach one of the nursery leaders, and she told me that Caelan is quite the little Mom there. I wondered if this meant that she was bossy to the other kids. Nope. She said that Caelan will go up to her little friend who has a hard time going to Nursery (she cries a lot while she is there) and she will pat her hair and go and get her a little toy. That made me happy to hear. I think we are in a bit of a whiny stage right now. She is getting really good at communicating but has also started whining to get things she wants. I am trying to kick that habit before it gets crazy, and I think it is getting a little better. I think she is starting to realize that the whining never helps in getting what she wants. Anyway, it seems like she just gets more and more fun as she gets bigger. She is talking a ton these days and can mostly anything she wants. It's so fun to hear her try and get her point across. I've noticed lately that she is even starting to correct herself grammatically. Instead of saying, "me want" she had started to say, "I want." What a little cute muffin!
