July 25, 2003

We had a good trip to Arizona -Caelan did very well on the plane (both ways). All of the Dick family had gathered for the funeral, so she was adored by even more relatives. She had a hard first day (pretty fussy), but the day of the funeral she was perfect. She slept during the Memorial service until the closing song, and then she was happy and content for family pictures. We tried giving her a couple of bites of rice cereal at night, and since then she has been sleeping much better during the day and seems to be more happy. I guess the extra two bites of solid food (which is pretty watered down) helps her digestive system.
Yesterday was Pioneer Day. We got tickets for a Demolition Derby in Fairview. A friend from our ward was going to be competing so we thought we would go for the
show. Caelan did really well, despite the rank smell of car exhaust and loud noises. She just looked around acting very curious as to what was happening all around her.
Yesterday was the first time we tried giving her formula in a bottle... and she just drank right up. She doesn't seem to care what medium the food comes, as long as it is actual food (we've figured out that she isn't too fond of binkies very often). Anyway, that was another first for her. She is getting cuter by the day (if that is possible) and is making more and more cooing sounds all the time.
