July 9, 2003

We blessed Caelan this past Sunday July 6,2003. Her Grandma Dick got her all ready that morning. She wore the same dress that I wore when I was blessed. We put a little white bow in her hair and some homemade white booties (made by Elizabeth Smith -my shift coordinator when I worked in the temple). She looked absolutely adorable. We had a lot of family here, so we all tried to go a little early in order to get seats. The visitors that came for the blessing were: both Sean's and my families, Grandpa and Grandma Sorensen, Steve Anderson and family, Dave Anderson and family, Carolyn and Ken and boys, Barbara and kids (some of them), the Finegan family and Geoff and Miriam Germaine. I think we took up about 5 rows. Extra chairs had to be set up in basically every available inch in order to fit all of the people that were there on Sunday. There were two other baby boys that were blessed the same day, and Caelan was the only on who didn't cry at all during her blessing. Sean gave her a wonderful blessing. The first thing he mentioned was that Caelan would always have the guidance of the Spirit in her life. He blessed her with a good body and mind. Finally he spoke about a special calling that Caelan had in life and blessed her that she might realize that calling and fulfill it. Grandpa Sorensen (Great Grandpa -I should say) commented about how that was one of the most special baby blessings he had ever heard (and he is 82 years old). I bore my testimony later in the meeting about the importance of the Plan of Salvation and families in that plan.
Following the meeting we all congregated to Kiwanis Park to have a little lunch -there were too many people to comfortably fit into our small house. Mom and Dad Sorensen put together the food to the day (which Sean and I were extremely grateful for). Sean actually woke up with a pretty bad cold that morning, so immediately following the meeting he came home and fell asleep (about 11:30 AM). He didn't wake back up until 9:30 AM the next morning, so we didn't see much of him. It was a great day. Caelan sure is loved. Her dad and I are so grateful to have had her sent to us.
