Oct 20, 2003

Caelan went on her first camping outing. We just went up the Alpine Loop in Provo Canyon. It was just Dad, Mom and Caelan. We headed up at about 5:15 and got there by 6. Dad started a fire while Mom unloaded the car. We set up our new tent (a birthday present for Dad). We had tinfoil dinners and made apple cobbler in our Dutch oven (not the best ever, but it was a decent treat). We quickly learned that Caelan was highly fond of the fire. She would become mesmerized at the flame and the cackling noises. We let that keep her occupied for a while. We all slept together in our bed (two zipped up sleeping bags). Caelan wore a little onesie plus a tight little jammy suit with another bigger one on top. We put on a red hat to keep her warm -she looked adorable. We topped it offby putting socks over her hands to keep them warm -I think she did just fine. We didn't sleep that great, but that was probably due to the fact that all three of us were moving around in those sleeping bags. We got up the next morning at about 6:30 (thanks to Little Goose) and made breakfast (eggs, potatoes and sausage). Caelan chowed down on some canteloupe. Then we just sat around the fire for a little while, packed up eventually and headed home. It was a fun time. Just another one ofCaelan's firsts in life.... With many more to follow.
