July 2008

We weren't able to make it to the Sorensen family reunion, and Dad couldn't really take a lot of time off, but we wanted to get away for a little while, so the weekend after the 4th we headed over to Flagstaff and got a hotel for a night. We went out to dinner and played in the pool. We stopped at a some caves on the way there, which were fun. We went and saw Wall-E at the movie theater (which we liked, but we had recently seen Kung Fu Panda and we all agreed that that was better). We went to church the next morning and then headed home. We saw a sign for a petting farm outside of Williams, so we stopped to check it out. Caelan and all the kids LOVED feeding the deer. The farm was set up so that there all sorts of animals in different enclosed areas, and then there were little dear that were just roaming free, and would come up if you had any sort of feed in your hand. They would eat the food straight off of the kids hands. Dad had to run into a market really quick to grab something and while he was in there he saw a sign for "free puppies" at a nearby camping trailer park. We thought it would be fun to swing by.....and then we drove home with the new addition to our family. He let Caelan go up to the litter and choose the one that she wanted. The owners had already named the puppy "Bruno." We thought it was a great name, so we kept it. He was great on the way home (about 2 hours) with no accidents. We made a little bed for him on our screen porch. He whined quite a bit that first night, but within just a couple of days he realized that that was his new bed. First thing every morning the kids and I are outside on the porch playing with him and holding him. So we are now official "dog" people.
